The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, 866-366-3723, uses a risk-based inspection reporting process for restaurants and other food handlers.

A&B Pizzatown Dba Bruno’s Pizzatown, 118 Old York Rd. New Cumberland, June 13. Fail. The Person in Charge did not demonstrate adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection. Two male employees observed in the kitchen area, not wearing proper hair restraints, such as beard covers. Observed numerous, but not all food ingredient storage containers, shakers, bottles, in the entire facility, is not labeled with the common name of the food. Observed hose running from wall installed air-conditioning unit to hand-wash sink. Hose must be re-routed to not drain into the hand-wash sink. Exit screen door located in the rear exit area of the food facility has a gap around the entire perimeter of the door, and does not protect against the entry of insects, rodents, and other animals.

Goofy’s Eatery & Spirits, 5965 York Rd. Spring Grove, June 10. Pass. Observed floor below and sides of fryer equipment in the kitchen area, with accumulation of grease and in need of cleaning. Non-food contact surfaces including two fans in food prep area and light fixtures in dishroom, not cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of dirt and soil.

Jimmy John’s, 2058 S. Queen St. York, June 10. Pass. In the walk-in freezer pipe from condenser has accumulation of ice and the back top of the freezer behind the condenser unit with ice accumulation, this is falling onto boxes of food and could possibly contaminate. Paper towel dispenser empty at the handwash sink in the Men’s bathroom area. Corrected.

Oyako Sushi Express Inc., 3619 E. Market St. York, Change of Owner, June 10. Pass. Observed wet wiping cloths in sushi area, not being stored in sanitizer solution. Corrected. Time in lieu of temperature being used in the food facility to control ready to eat potentially hazardous foods without written procedures or documentation to verify disposition of food. Corrected – provided training. Can opener cutting blade, a food contact surface, was observed to have food residue and was not clean to sight and touch. Corrected.

Sushi Ya Fusion, 101 Wilson Ave. Hanover, June 10. Pass. No violations.

Wing Stop, 2430 E. Market St. York, June 10. Pass. Sauce bowls are not changed a minimum of every four hours. Corrected – Provided training. Bowls used to coat cooked chicken wings with sauce must be washed, rinsed and sanitized at least every four hours to prevent bacterial growth and cross contamination. Mops are not being hung to air dry.
