Food facility has an employee that has taken food safety training program; however, the food safety program was not an ANSI/CFP accredited Certified Food Manager program. Certificate is a Food Handler certificate, rather than a Food Manager.

Main Street Pub & Restaurant, 505 Main St. PO Box 628, Bally, June 6. Pass. Food employee observed in the cookline area, not wearing proper hair restraints, such as nets, hats, or beard covers. Observed raw fish being stored above produce in the Walk-in-cooler.

Mario’s Pizzeria Restaurant, 300 Penn Valley Rd. Bernville, June 6. Pass. Food facility has an employee who held a Certified Food Manager certificate; however, the certificate has expired and is no longer valid. The certificate expired 4/3/2024.

The Ironstone, 120 E. Philadelphia Ave. Boyertown, June 6. Pass. Refrigerated ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food prepared in the food facility and held for more than 24 hours, located in the Bain Marie, bar refrigerator, and walk-in-cooler is not being date marked. Beef steaks and burgers are served undercooked to the customer’s request; however, a written consumer advisory (on the menu, table tent, or placard) is not provided to the consumer. Plumbing system not maintained in good repair; observed the wash basin drain in the three basin sink leaking at the drain connection to the air gap pipe.

Brakeman’s Cafe, 56 S. Washington St. Boyertown, June 5. Pass. Food employees observed in the prep and the coffee making area, not wearing proper hair restraints, such as nets, hats, or beard covers. Refrigerated ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food prepared in the food facility and held for more than 24 hours, located in the Bain Maries and the refrigerator in the dining area, is not being date marked. Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration.

Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill #7552, 2723 N Meridian Blvd. Wyomissing, June 4. Pass. Some food was held at 118°F, in the FWE unit, rather than 135°F or above as required. Chicken on the lower level was reheated immediately and was placed in another hot hold unit. The product on the top shelf was at proper temperature. Observed an accumulation of water/black slime on the floor and on a drain line behind the bar below the beer taps at the server area. Some floor tiles are damaged and grout is also deteriorated in some areas of the bar and kitchen. This allows water and/or food debris to accumulate in these areas.

Starbucks Coffee, 4541 Perkiomen Ave. Reading, June 4. Pass. Facility does not have a method to verify the final rinse temperature for the hot water sanitizing dishwasher. Paper towel dispenser empty at the handwash sink in the back area. Corrected.

Panera Bread #1684, 4395 Perkiomen Ave. Reading, June 3. Pass. Observed an accumulation of old food debris/dirt on the shelves at the front counter and on the rolling wire carts near the middle of the front prep line. Some surfaces of the soda unit and the surrounding surfaces (wall, counter) in the dining room area have a build-up of residue.

Pizza Hut #037139, 4207 Perkiomen Ave. Reading, June 3. Pass. The bottom surface of the mop sink is damaged and is no longer a smooth, easily cleanable surface. There is an accumulation of dirt/ debris on the floor and walls in the dishwashing area. Observed a build-up of dirt/dust on the condenser fan covers in the walk-in cooler.

Sammy’s Steaks & Fries #1 (xp-57581), mobile food facility Type 3, 410 Penn Ave. West Reading, June 3. Pass. The potato slicers, food contact surfaces, were observed to have dried food residue and were not clean to sight and touch. Owner dismantled them for cleaning. Floor/wall area near the door is deteriorating and is not a smooth, easily cleanable surface. Part of the ceiling in this unit is damaged.
