Berkshire Heights Fire Co., 808 N. Park Rd. Wyomissing, May 31. Pass. The fryer baskets and a baking tray, food contact surfaces, were observed to have food residue and were not clean to sight and touch. This will be corrected today. Observed grease puddling on top of the fryer covers and grease residue on the wire shelving unit next to the fryers.

Cloud Nine Cafe, 84 Commerce Dr. Wyomissing, May 31. Pass. Some shelving is lined with aluminum foil. This is not a durable, cleanable material. Observed a spill and some old food debris on the floor under the shelving in the walk-in cooler. Plastic tableware near the front window and near the register is not displayed in a manner so that only the handles are touched when dispensed.

Plumbing system not maintained in good repair; observed water leaking at the 3-compartment sink faucet and the drain line for the handwash sink. Working container (spray bottle) in breakfast area, used for storing chemicals, cleaners taken from bulk supplies, were not marked with the common name of the chemical. Corrected.

Chipotle #4975, 15 Maplewood Dr. Douglassville, Opening, May 30. Fail. Cold hold units on both service lines not working. Line in front of store has no power going to it. Walk-in cooler not working properly. Refrigeration unit does not work.

Joyful House, 180 Old Swede Rd. Suite 1, Douglassville, May 30. Fail. The Person in Charge did not demonstrate adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection. Raw meat and seafood stored in Bain Marie uncovered and in contact with other foods. Corrected. Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration. Observed an accumulation of old food, dirt and debris on the floor under the cook line, around the mop sink and 3-bay sink and around the water heater and shelving in the kitchen. Observed the fan covers and ceiling in the walk-in cooler to have an accumulations of dust and debris. Observed the floor of the walk-in freezer to have an accumulation of old food and food residue. Back screen door located in the kitchen area of the food facility has a gap and does not protect against the entry of insects, rodents, and other animals. Observed 2 dead cockroaches in a box of cleaning chemicals. No live activity observed. Mops are not being hung to air dry.

Stoltzfus Luncheonette, 845b Woodland Rd. Wyomissing, May 30. Pass. Wall corner in the slicer area is rough and unfinished and is not a smooth, easily cleanable surface. Ceiling tile missing above the slicer area needs to be replaced.

Thaiwat Restaurant, 1145 Berkshire Blvd. Wyomissing, May 30. Pass. Observed some food items stored directly on the floor in the walk-in cooler and walk-in freezer, rather than 6 inches off of the floor as required. Observed a build-up of dirt/debris in the drain under the dishwasher. There is an accumulation of loose dirt and rust on the shelving in the walk-in cooler. Food facility inspection indicates evidence of insect activity in kitchen and server areas. Facility may need to increase the frequency of their pest control program. Working containers (spray bottles) in front area, used for storing chemicals, cleaners taken from bulk supplies, were not marked with the common name of the chemical. Corrected.

Condensate observed leaking in the walk-in freezer. Accumulation of ice observed on the floor. Person in charge stated requests have been filed with corporate to repair noted issues. Toilet in the women’s restroom is out of order at the time of inspection. Person in charge stated plumber has been contacted for repairs. Paper towel dispenser empty at the handwash sink in the men’s restroom. Automated paper towel dispenser battery needs replacement (non-operational) in the women’s restroom.

Corrected. Observed deeply scored cutting boards not resurfaced or discarded as required. Observed two cutting boards on the cook like and 2 cutting boards used at the bar that need to be resurfaced or replaced. Observed clean food utensils in dishwashing area, stored uncovered or not inverted. Corrected. The handwash sink in the bar area does not have single use towels, continuous towels, or air-drying device. Corrected. Mops are not being hung to air dry.

Moselem Springs Golf Club, 684 Eagle Rd. Fleetwood, May 29. Pass. Observed cases of food stored directly on the floor in the walk-in freezer area, rather than 6 inches off of the floor as required. Observed cases of to go food packaging stored directly on the floor in dry storage area, rather than 6 inches off of the floor as required. Refrigerated ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food prepared in the food facility and held for more than 24 hours, located in the walk-in cooler, is not being date marked. Four rubber spatulas were observed chipped and cracked this food contact surface is not smooth, easily cleanable and/or resistant to pitting, cracking or scratching. Corrected. The handwash sink in the kitchen was blocked by a ladder and not accessible at all times for employee use. Corrected. Soap was not available at the handwash sink in the kitchen area. Corrected.

Burts Farms, 1110 Route 100, Bechtelsville, May 28. Pass. Food employees observed in prep area, not wearing proper hair restraints, such as nets, hats, or beard covers. Corrected. Three 16 oz. containers of milk that were expired on May 24,2024 were observed in the refrigerator on the sales floor. Corrected.

Cross Roads Family Restaurant, 4643 Pottsville Pike, Reading, May 28. Pass. Multiple food prep/work areas with open food/personal beverages. Corrected on inspection. Multiple bulk bins food dispensing utensil observed stored in the food and not with handle above the top of the food. Corrected on inspection. Multiple top shelf salad bar items held at 43.2°F, rather than 41°F or below as required. Corrected on inspection. Multiple refrigeration units at cook’s station at 44.9°F, rather than 41°F or below as required.

Refrigerated ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety foods prepared in the food facility and held for more than 24 hours, located in the refrigerators throughout the facility, are not being date marked. Food contact surface of prep table (table is observed covered with a disposable plastic table cover) is not smooth, easily cleanable and/or resistant to pitting, cracking or scratching.
