The U.S. Women’s Open returns to Lancaster County this year.
The event was last held in Lancaster County in 2015 and drew a record 135,000 attendees. Jerry Hostetter, the U.S. Women’s Open general chair, said this year’s tournament is on pace to match or eclipse 2015’s total. Hostetter said roughly 85% of the spectators were residents of Lancaster County.
Here’s everything you need to know about the 2024 U.S. Women’s Open.
The U.S. Women’s Open is being held from May 30 to June 2. In addition, players will play practice rounds on May 28-29. Gates are open 6 a.m.-7 p.m. those days.
Professional and top amateur golfers will tee off at Lancaster Country Club’s Flynn course. The golf course opened in 1920 and was designed by William Flynn. A restoration was completed in 2007. It is par-70 and will play between 6,500 and 6,7-00 yards in the USWO.
A field of 156 will compete. Nearly 1,900 players entered. About 100 will be exempt from qualifying due to various world rankings and wins or high finishes in world-class tournaments, or special exemptions given by teh United States Golf Association. That leaves roughly 50-60 spots for qualifiers.
The field includes South Korea native In Gee Chun, who won the 2015 USWO in Lancaster, and 2023 champ Allisen Corpuz.
Warwick High School junior Elle Overly is among 1,897 entries, and will attempt to make the 156-player field for the Open in a qualifier May 7 at Shannopin Country Club in Pittsburgh.
Visit the United States Golf Association’s website to buy tickets. They have a variety of ticket options ranging from $25 to $2,000.
The USGA has also launched a “Hidden Ball Challenge.” The contest features oversized golf balls featuring the U.S. Women’s Open’s Lancaster rose logo placed at participating businesses and golf courses throughout Lancaster, York and Dauphin counties.
If found, fans can use a smartphone to scan the QR code, which allows them to enter for a chance to win a variety of championship experiences, including a grand prize package of two Penn Club tickets, a behind-the-scenes tour of the media center and other facilities, and a meet-the-player experience.
The contest ends on May 20 at 11:59 p.m.
Complimentary fan parking will be located next to Penn Cinema, 541 Airport Road, Lititz, from May 28-June 2. A free shuttle will transport fans from the parking lot to the entrance at Lancaster Country Club. Shuttle service will begin approximately 45 minutes before the first tee time each day and run until about one hour after play concludes.
Accessible parking spaces for all vehicles with appropriate HD/DP license plates or placards will be reserved at all locations. Those requiring lift-equipped transportation should contact 2024uswomensopen@usga.org.
Fans using ride share should take ride share services to the Calvary Church drop-off/pick-up at 1051 Landis Valley Road, Lancaster. Shuttle service will be available to the course from there. There is no parking or staging for vehicles at the ride share location. Also, ride share vehicles are not permitted to pick up or drop off at any other location.
