Mia 2 Pizza LLC, 835 S. Eisenhower Blvd. Middletown, Opening, March 29. Pass. No violations.

Sohail’s Store, 835 Eisenhower Blvd. Middletown, March 29. Pass. Facility does not have a two (with approved sani/wash) or three bay sink for warewashing of large coffee pots and containers used to house cups, lids, creamers pods, etc. Observed underside of cappucino dispensing unit with accumulation of dried liquid and not clean to sight or touch. Unwrapped and unprotected single use straws stored in the customer area. This is a repeat violation. Old unused equipment stored in under the cabinets in the self-serve area and the back two storage areas, should be removed from food facility.

Subway, 67 Outlet Square, Hershey, Complaint, March 28. Pass. Food employees observed in food assembly area, not wearing proper hair restraints, such as nets, hats, or beard covers.

Tomato Pie Cafe, 3950 Tecport Dr. Harrisburg, March 28. Pass. Observed food ingredient storage containers and bottles, through-out the facility, is not labeled with the common name of the food. Thermometers for ensuring proper temperatures of food are not available or readily accessible. Loose rubber door gaskets observed on the two doors cooling unit. Observed the following on non-food contact surfaces: Ovens in the kitchen area with accumulation of grease and dust; Accumulation of dirt on the floor of the walk-in cooler. Exit door located in the back area of the food facility has a gap and does not protect against the entry of insects, rodents, and other animals.

Hershey Legion Social Club, 166 E. Derry Rd. Hershey, March 27. Pass. Observed the following on non-food contact surfaces: Hood/ventilation system above fryers and grill with accumulation of grease/dust and are in need of cleaning; Large static dust accumulation on PVC piping underneath three compartment sink and mechanical dishwasher. Old unused equipment (cooking utensils, containers…) stored throughout the facility should be removed/discarded.

Simply Greek, 23 Briarcrest Square, Hershey, March 27. Pass. Food Employee observed donning single use gloves without a prior hand wash. Food Employee observed changing tasks that may have contaminated hands without a proper handwash in-between. Observed chicken being held at 107°F, in warming unit in the kitchen area, rather than 135°F or above as required. Warmer heat dial was turned up and internal temperature was taken again which read 135°F. Corrected on site. Observed food employee washing equipment in three compartment sink without proper manual ware washing set-up to include wash, rinse, and sanitize. Educated and corrected on site. Observed loose/broken rubber door gaskets on bain-marie refrigeration unit in the food prep area and is in need of replacement. Observed accumulation of grease along piping above flattop grill and fryers, a non-food contact surface, and is in need of cleaning. Observed single-service, single-use containers stored throughout the kitchen area which were not in the original protective package or inverted to protect from food debris/contamination. Observed puddle of water in floor tile along wall next to mechanical dishwasher which is broken/missing and is not a smooth, easily cleanable surface.

Tropical Smoothie Cafe, 169 W. Chocolate Ave. Hershey, March 27. Pass. Observed deeply scored cutting board on bain-marie unit next to grill press not resurfaced or discarded as required. Observed manual can opener blade, a food contact surface, with accumulation of old food residue and is not being cleaned at a frequency to prevent contamination. Observed clean utensils stored in cardboard boxes, which is not an easily cleanable surface, and containing old food debris. Cardboard boxes were replaced with plastic containers. Corrected on site.

Dauphin Pizza, 216 Allegheny St. Dauphin, March 26. Pass. Observed cardboard being used as a base on shelves of storage rack next to bain-marie unit in the cooking area which is not a smooth and easily cleanable surface. Corrected on site. Observed severely deteriorated/missing rubber door gaskets on each of the bain-marie refrigeration units in the pizza making station and are in need of replacement. Doors are not able to close properly as a result. Observed the following on food contact surfaces: Manual slicer with accumulation of old food residue on blade and around exterior surfaces and is not being cleaned at a frequency. Corrected on site. Manual French fry cutter blade and exterior with accumulation of old, dried food residue and is not being cleaned at a frequency. Corrected on site. Dirty knives stored on rusty magnetic knife holder next to 3 bay sink. Corrected on site. Interior surface of plastic shield surrounding ice dispenser on soda dispensing unit with accumulation of pink slime and is in need of cleaning. Corrected on site. Observed static dust accumulation on all ceiling fans throughout the facility, a non-food contact surface, and are in need of cleaning. Observed door in back of the food facility with a gap and does not protect against the entry of insects, rodents, and other animals.

Steelton-Highspire Junior/Senior High School, Swatara & Reydners Ave. Steelton, March 26. Pass. Ceiling tiles missing in the student eating area area, and need replaced. Observed peeling paint above and around windows that are directly above food prep area.

The Roma Pizza Place, 282 2nd St. Highspire, March 26. Pass. Sponges observed in the three bay sink area being used to clean food contact surfaces.

Boardwalk, 662 E. Market St. Gratz, March 25. Pass. Food facility has an employee who held a Certified Food Manager certificate; however, the certificate has expired and is no longer valid. Facility must recertify someone or hire someone with the managerial certification within 90 days.

Observed cooking utensils, a food contact surface, stored dirty in container on storage rack near kitchen entrance. Corrected on site. Paper towel dispenser empty at the handwash sink behind the bar. The Valley Lighthouse, 105 Main St. Lykens, March 25. Pass. Observed 3 qts of Swiss 2% milk with a Sell by date of Mar 21. The sanitation pressure on the hot water sanitizing warewashing machine in not set at an acceptable level (15 – 25 ppi). Facility will dip in sanitizer solution after running through the dishwasher until the problem is corrected.
