Acec Farm & Market, 469 Adams Hotel Rd. Shoemakersville, March 15. Pass. No violations.

Backwoods Brothers Authentic Texas Cuisine, 272 S. 4th St. Hamburg, March 15. Pass. Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration. Observed table equipment, in kitchen area, with an accumulation of dirt, food residue, debris on non-food contact surfaces. Prep table legs, fryer/grill equipment have a heavy food debris, splash residue build up and must be cleaned. Observed cardboard being utilized as a floor covering. Floor behind and below fryer and grill is observed with excessive debris and grease build-up and the wall behind the prep table is observed with excessive debris build-up, and in need of cleaning.

Lou Ees Pizza, 500 Hawk Ridge Dr. Suite 6, Hamburg, March 15. Pass. Souffle cup without a handle was observed being stored in a container of oregano. Corrected. Observed chicken wings cooling at room temperature on the shelf by the pizza oven, which is not a proper cooling method. Corrected. Back door to the outside, located in the prep area of the food facility is not self-closing and/or is being propped open. Corrected. Soap was not available at the handwash sink in the employee restroom. Corrected. Spray bottle observed with bleach water had a label that was not readable. Corrected.

Redner’s Quick Shoppe #28, 6719 Bernville Rd. Bernville, Complaint, March 15. Pass. No violations.

Sunoco, 1223 Pottsville Pike, Shoemakersville, March 15. Pass. Hot dogs a refrigerated ready to eat time/temperature control for safety food, in the walk-in cooler was not compliant with datemarking by being labeled with a discard or use by date of no more than 7 days and requires discarding. Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration. The handwash sink in the self-service food area does not have single use towels or air-drying device. Corrected.

Top Star Express #0031, 2588 Bernville Rd. Reading, March 15. Pass. Sliced deli meat observed thawing at room temperature on the counter in the prep area, which is not an approved thawing method. Corrected.

B’s Hamburg Sweet Treats, 234 State St. Hamburg, March 14. Pass. Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration. One spray bottle in dish area used for storing sanitizer was not marked with the common name of the chemical. Corrected.

C&C Pizza, 92 Main St. Strausstown, March 14. Pass. Refrigerated ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food prepared in the food facility and held for more than 24 hours, located in the walk-in cooler and reach-in coolers are not being date marked. Mops are not being hung to air dry.

CI Hamburg Superstore Lounge, 1635 Mountain Rd. Hamburg, March 14. Pass. Soap was not available at the handwash sink in the kitchen area.

Square One Markets #113, 71 Industrial Dr. Hamburg, March 14. Pass. No violations.

Chatty’s, 3130 Pricetown Rd. Fleetwood, March 13. Pass. Cup without a handle observed stored in a container of pepper. Corrected. Floor behind grill has an excessive build-up of grease and is in need of cleaning.

Gourmand Cafe (Wyo), 945 Berkshire Blvd. Suite 103, Wyomissing, March 13. Pass. Observed several food items stored directly on the floor in the dry storage room, rather than 6 inches off of the floor as required. Multiple food items were held at 50-55°F, in the 2-door refrigerator in the kitchen, rather than 41°F or below as required. All items that need to be kept refrigerated were thrown away during this inspection. Observed single-service, single-use articles (such as foil catering pans) stored in back hall area directly on the floor, and not 6 inches above the floor. Wall in the back hall is damaged and is in need of repair.

Leesport Diner, 5407 Pottsville Pike, Leesport, Complaint, March 13. Pass. No violations.

Muhlenberg SD Middle School, 801 Bellevue Ave. Laureldale, March 13. Pass. Souffle cup without a handle observed inside spice container. Corrected.

Redner’s Quick Stop #74, 8381 Allentown Pike, Reading, March 13. Pass. can opener blade, a food contact surface, was observed to have food residue and was not clean to sight and touch. Corrected. Mops are not being hung to air dry. Spray bottle in mop sink area taken from bulk supplies, were not marked with the common name of the chemical. Corrected.

Dunkin, 1123 Ben Franklin Highway, Douglassville, March 12. Pass. Food contact surface of two insert pans is not smooth, easily cleanable and/or resistant to pitting, cracking or scratching. Corrected on site. Temperature measuring device for ensuring proper temperature of equipment is not available or readily accessible in reach-in cooler in beverage preparation area. Non-food contact surface of the spray nozzle of the three-compartment sink was not cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of dirt and soil. Grout in front of the in-use ice bin is observed missing and is not a smooth, easily cleanable surface, which is allowing standing water and food debris build-up in that area.

Hereford Elementary School, 1043 Gravel Pike, Hereford, March 12. Pass. No violations.

Subway, 214 Crossing Blvd. Elverson, March 12. Pass. Observed deeply scored cutting boards not resurfaced or discarded as required. Front service area hand wash sink observed with hot water turned off. Corrected. Plumbing system not maintained in good repair – observed backroom hand wash sink leaking at the valve.

Subway #36061, 955 Ben Franklin Highway, Suite 5, Douglassville, March 12. Pass. Observed deeply scored cutting boards not resurfaced or discarded as required. Floor across from walk-in cooler in back prep area has an accumulation of debris build up at coving, in need of cleaning.

Wal-Mart Supercenter #3501, 100 Crossings Blvd. Elverson, Follow-up, March 12. Pass. Sliced deli meat (2 packages) were held at 46°F, in the center display case area above the load limit rather than 41°F or below as required. corrected. Mops are not being hung to air dry next to the ice cream freezer.

Cottage Bakery & Cafe, 236 W. Main St. Kutztown, March 11. Pass. Raw marinated chicken observed out of date in reach-in cooler. Corrected. Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration. Corrected. Food facility does not employ a certified food employee as required. Women’s toilet room is not provided with a covered waste receptacle for sanitary napkins.

Papa Johns #3074, 828b Route 100, Bechtelsville, March 11. Pass. The fan guards in the walk in cooler have observable dirt and dust like build up. The nozzle at the 3 bay sink has a build up of old food like splatter. The food facility does not have the original certificate for the certified food employee posted in public view. The handwash sink in the back prep area does not have single use towels, continuous towels, or air drying device.
