Oola Bowls, 2934 N. 5th Street Highway, Reading, March 2. Pass. Food dispensing utensil in coconut and ice bin observed stored in the food and not with handle above the top of the food. Observed scored cutting boards not resurfaced or discarded when unable to be cleaned adequately.

IHOP #5502, 2701 Meridian Blvd. Wyomissing, Emergency Response, March 1. Pass. Some food items in the cooking area of the kitchen were contaminated with fire suppression material. Food items were thrown away. Food contact surfaces in the cooking area of the kitchen were contaminated with fire suppression material. Employees were cleaning and sanitizing all surfaces in the area. Multiple surfaces were contaminated with fire suppression material. Employees were cleaning all surfaces.

Alebrije Mexican Restaurant, 2224 State Hill Rd. Wyomissing, February 29. Pass. Thermometer for ensuring proper temperature of equipment is not available or readily accessible in the Coke refrigerator in the server area. Corrected. Sanitizer test strips at the dishwasher are expired/not giving an accurate reading. Floor tiles near the back door in the kitchen are damaged and the floor in this area is no longer a smooth, easily cleanable surface. There is a missing coving tile in the corner of the cooking area. Paper towel dispensers empty at the handwash sinks in the server and cooking areas. Corrected.

Brooklyn Place, 101 5th Ave. West Reading, February 29. Pass. Wall in the cooking area is exposed to splash, spillage, or other food soiling and is made of unfinished drywall. Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration at the 3-compartment sink. Food facility has an employee that has taken food safety training program; however, the food safety program was not an ANSI/CFP accredited Certified Food Manager program.

Nino’s Pizza & Pasta, 840 Park Rd. Wyomissing, February 29. Pass. Raw eggs were stored above deli meats in the 2-door refrigerator. Corrected. Observed bags of onions stored directly on the floor in the dry storage area, rather than 6 inches off of the floor as required. Corrected.

Reading Country Club Clubhouse, 5311 Perkiomen Ave. Reading, February 29. Pass. Working containers (spray bottles) in kitchen area, used for storing chemicals, cleaners taken from bulk supplies, were not marked with the common name of the chemical. Corrected.

Stonersville Fire Company, 5580 Boyertown Pike, Birdsboro, February 29. Pass. Thermometer for ensuring proper temperature of equipment is not available or readily accessible in the bain marie unit near the bar area.

Corner Food Mart, 3675 Pricetown Rd. Fleetwood, February 27. Pass. Prep table used for sandwiches has the overwrap film from shipping on table yet that must be removed so table is smooth and cleanable. Breakfast sandwich food was held at 105°F, in the hot case area, rather than 135°F or above as required. Corrected. Temperature measuring device for ensuring proper temperature of equipment is not available or readily accessible in Tacks cold case equipment. Corrected. Food facility does not have available chlorine sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration.

Market at Boyer’s Junction, 122 Pricetown Rd. Fleetwood, Complaint, February 27. Pass. Food employees observed in deli area, not wearing proper hair restraints, such as nets, hats, or beard covers. Refrigerated ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food prepared in the food facility and held for more than 24 hours, located in the sandwich bain marie, is not being date marked. sliced deli meats are not date marked. Customer self-service single-use tableware is not displayed in a manner so that only the handles are touched by customers. Corrected.

Twin Valley Middle School, 770 Clymer Hill Rd. Elverson, February 27. Pass. Observed two severely dented, swollen, distressed canned items observed in dry storage area and intended for use or sale in the food facility. Corrected. Austin’s Restaurant, 1101 Snyder Rd. West Lawn, February 26. Pass. Various bins observed with single use cups, and pans stored in the food product without handles. Corrected. Observed several deeply scored cutting boards not resurfaced or discarded as required. Soda gun nozzle and holder in the bar area were observed to have organic build-up and was not clean to sight and touch. Food employee observed storing clean food equipment while wet, and not allowing time for draining and/or air-drying. Observed clean food equipment and/or utensils in clean dish storage area, stored wet in a manner that does not allow for draining and/or air drying (wet nesting).

B2 Bistro & Bar, 701 Reading Ave. West Reading, Emergency Response, February 26. Pass. Due to smoke condition in the bar from exterior fire all opened food and beverage products are to be discarded. Corrected prior to arrival. Due to fire in the exterior rear of the facility causing smoke to enter bar area all equipment and utensils are to be cleaned and sanitized. Corrected prior to arrival.

Refrigerated ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food prepared in the food facility and held for more than 24 hours, located in the walk-in cooler, is not being date marked. Pre-cooked pasta and meat sauce pre-cooked held for more than 24 hours not date marked. Corrected. Food facility has an employee who held a Certified Food Manager certificate; however, the certificate has expired and is no longer valid.

Observed a build-up of old food residue on the non-food contact portion of the self-serve cappuccino machine. Mops are not being hung to air dry.

Speedway #06781, 1028 Ben Franklin Highway, Douglassville, February 26. Pass. Observed the soda machine equipment, in self serve area, with an accumulation of food residue on non-food contact surfaces. Observed the drain in the back dishwash area and mop sink non-food contact surfaces not cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of dirt and soil. Lights are not shielded or shatter proof over the soda dispensing area in the back room.

Tipsy Times, 2295 E. Main St. Douglassville, Opening, February 26. Fail. Wall on door frame in the kitchen area leading to dining area, is made of wood, and is not durable, smooth, non-porous, non-absorbent. The floor/wall juncture in the kitchen area by the door leading to the bar and the exit door is not coved and closed to 1/32 inch. Exit door located in the kitchen area of the food facility has a gap and does not protect against the entry of insects, rodents, and other animals.
