Farrelly, who is a native of Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, has 25 years of experience leading strategy, operations, and program development with a variety of public service and non-profit organizations. Farrelly previously held leadership positions at the Penn State University College of Medicine, where she was appointed their first Chief Operating Officer, the British Consulate General in New York, and the Chancellor’s Office of the New York City Department of Education.

A longtime supporter of community development and programming, Farrelly served as chairperson of the board of directors for New York City’s Origin Theatre Company for several years. Farrelly is a graduate of Fordham University and Penn State University and was a Senator George J. Mitchell scholar at Trinity College Dublin where her published research examined immigration in the European Union.

More recently, she was selected as a Presidential Leadership Scholar, a program by the presidential centers of George W. Bush, William J. Clinton, George H.W. Bush, and Lyndon B. Johnson that brings together leaders from the non-profit, military, public, and private sectors to learn first-hand from presidential case studies and administrations. Her project in this program focused on providing affordable banking access and financial literacy training to unbanked and underserved households.

“Every day, WITF partners with our communities to foster engagement and learning and I’m excited to be part of that effort,” said Farrelly. “WITF has been a trusted source for information and education within our region for more than 60 years and I look forward to collaborating with our community members as we shape the next 60 years of service.”

“I’m thrilled that Cassie has accepted the role of Chief Impact Officer,” said WITF President & CEO Ron Hetrick. “Her extensive background in non-profit strategic planning, theory, and practice, and her years of operational experience will help guide WITF into our next phase of service to the people and communities of Central Pennsylvania.”
