This weekend’s storm could bring 3 to 6 inches of snow and rain to Central Pennsylvania.

Though forecasters still don’t know the exact timeline of the storm, Sonya Lewis, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said snow will likely start Saturday morning. There could be a mix of rain and snow in the afternoon, and the storm will taper off on Sunday.

The heaviest precipitation will fall around Saturday afternoon and evening.

Lewis said the wind is expected to be around 8 to 10 miles per hour, and will make the mid-30-degree temperature feel like it’s in the 20s.

With the potential for plowable snow, she recommends people stay inside and avoid travel — especially in the afternoon when the storm is at its heaviest.

If you must travel, she said to stick to treated roads and drive slowly.

Pennsylvanians might have noticed a lack of snow recently, and Lewis said this is to be expected.

“Since we were in an El Nino event, that kind of generally means that the Pennsylvania area gets less snowfall, which also could contribute to why we haven’t had very much snowfall, like let’s say in December and November,” she said.

The National Weather Service is also starting to track a storm that could hit in the middle of next week.
