In the first episode of the season 10 finale, Martin has resigned his medical license, and he spends his days caring for James Henry and baby Mary Elizabeth. Louisa, however, has started her new role as a child counselor seeing patients after surgery. A conflict for Martin ensues when a mother of Louisa’s patient refuses treatment from Martin although she presents clear symptoms of illness. Through this occurrence, Martin admits his desire to resume his medical practice.
