James Herriot’s adventures as a veterinarian in the 1930’s Yorkshire Dales get a glorious new adaptation in a TV series based on his internationally celebrated books. Nicholas Ralph makes his television debut as the iconic vet who became renowned for his inspiring humor, compassion for his animal patients, and love of life. With plenty of heart, a picturesque setting, and a cast that utterly charms, the show delivers drama both comforting and entertaining.

Season Two begins three months after the end of season one. A trip back home to Glasgow presents James with a dilemma that will mean choosing between the people he loves. As Helen and James navigate their feelings for one another, Siegfried, Tristan, and Mrs. Hall are also forced to consider their places in the world, while James must decide between supporting his family or following his heart.
Season three begins and it’s the eve of James and Helen’s wedding day. The boys head to the pub, with Mrs Hall giving everyone strict instructions to keep an eye on James and also the wedding ring, which Tristan is meant to be guarding. Needless to say, James winds up drinking a yard of ale and ends up spending the night in the barn. Tristan also mislays the ring which eventually ends up inside a dog.

Season Four places us in Spring 1940 and with Europe at war, the community in Darrowby is pulling together more than ever before. With Tristan away serving, Siegfried and James bring in some extra hands to help around the practice: highly efficient bookkeeper Miss Harbottle, and student vet Richard Carmody. Happily married Helen and James begin to think about their future despite the looming possibility that James could be called up to serve.
