So many people are fascinated with dinosaurs and it’s not just kids.

There’s a new exhibit at the North Museum of Nature and Science in Lancaster that just opened last Saturday that is sure to draw those people from far and wide who want to learn and see more.

It’s called Dinosaurs Among Us and the North Museum is the only museum in the U.S. selected by the American Museum of Natural History to host the exhibition.

One of the unique aspects of the exhibit is it shows how the birds of today descended from dinosaurs. Molly Wolanski, North Museum Exhibits and Collections Manager said on The Spark Tuesday,”The exhibit touches on four real components the overlap between birds and dinosaurs. The first being eggs and nests. So the exhibit looks at fossilized eggs and fossilized nest events and looks at how. The dinosaur eggs are very actually similar to bird eggs today. And you can kind of you can track the evolution of. Birds from dinosaurs, through the eggs, through the nests, through the hollow bones, and even the development of feathers. More and more research is showing over the past couple of decades that a lot more dinosaurs had feathers than initially thought. Granted, they might not look like our fluffy feathers that we have today on birds, but they were feathers nonetheless.”

Andrea Rush, North Museum CEO, indicated it’s an honor for the North Museum to be chosen to debut the exhibit in the United States,”I think the North Museum collections are really what’s on display here. We have many collections from dinosaurs to birds to nests to eggs that just really pair well with this new type of innovative exhibition, collaborative effort that is really rolling out. In fact, we just got off a call with them, Scott, and got to hear what was happening in Mexico and in Spain and other countries that are also doing this project and what their process was like. But I think essentially, you know, the North Museum has a very long standing history of credibility within their collections and a lot of partnerships throughout the country, in the world when opportunities like this come up. You know, often curators discuss things and the North Museum may be thought of in light of what we do have to offer and how it pairs with this exhibition.”
