Christmas coincides with Geraldine’s tenth year as vicar in the small village of Dibley. And after visiting and offering to buy her any gift to celebrate her anniversary – as long as it’s a leatherbound, illustrated Bible – David suggests she apply to be a bishop.

Later, she finds herself meeting the Archbishop of Canterbury while covered in chocolate – making quite an impression – and leading Christmas mass while a little too merry. She accepts a very generous gift at her anniversary party, as well.
