The Mayor of Casterbridge is a lavish period drama based on Thomas Hardy’s classic novel of the same name. It tells the tale of a man, Michael Henchard, who drunkenly sells his wife, Susan, and baby, Elizabeth Jane, to a sailor at the market.
The next day, a remorseful Michael begins a new life – a wealthy and respectful life as the Mayor of Casterbridge. However, his past returns to haunt him when he is unexpectedly reunited with his family, and he’s forced to confront the consequences of his actions.
