(Harrisburg)  — The state Department of Environmental Protection has issued an Air Quality Alert for the midstate today.

The Code Orange alert means that air pollution concentrations in the region may become unhealthy for sensitive groups,.. such as children, the elderly and people suffering from asthma, heart disease and other lung diseases.

The D-E-P says the effects of air pollution can be minimized by avoiding strenuous activity or exercise outdoors.
