At one time, Lyme Disease was thought to be an acute illness that could be cured with antibiotics. For some who contract Lyme, that’s all it amounts to. There are physicians who believe that Lyme Disease’s flu-like symptoms are all there is to the illness.
However, more and more people have exhibited symptoms after a tick bite that are more serious than the flu and they say their chronic symptoms leave them debilitated and unable to function normally.
A new film —The Monster Inside Me chronicles one couple’s experiences with Lyme Disease that they describe as “the cruelty of day-to-day life with this overlooked disease.”
One of them film director Tony Silva appears on Wednesday’s Smart Talk to describe the documentary and his experiences.
The Monster Inside Me premieres at the Midtown Cinema in Harrisburg on April 26 and benefits Sam’s Spoons Foundation.
