When Frank Fox and Tom Tymon retired, the Lancaster men wondered how they could use their chemistry, engineering and new product development backgrounds.
They identified a target: leather waste.
What Fox and Tymon set out to do was come up with a process that could recycle 25% to 60% of the leather that us typically discarded as scrap. About 3.5 billion pounds of leather waste goes into landfills or incinerators every year.
It took five years, but Fox and Tymon developed a product that replicates leather, cost less and could cut down on waste.
Frank Fox tells us about it on Wednesday’s Smart Talk.
