  Fred Vigeant is WITF's Director of Programming and Promotions for TV and Radio. Fred manages the schedules for our radio and television platforms. He also analyzes audience research and manages the public affairs program Smart Talk. Previously, Fred was at WRVO in Oswego, NY for 12 years serving in various roles including Program Director and before that Operations Manager. Fred graduated from the State University of New York College at Oswego with a B.A. in Mass Communications and Broadcasting.

WITF’s Central PA Spelling Bee will be buzzing along to your television soon!

On Sunday, April 3, 35 students from across Central Pennsylvania will compete for the title of regional champion. The winner will advance to compete in the 2022 Scripps National Spelling Bee.

The participants in WITF’s Central PA Spelling Bee scored the highest of about 150 fourth- through eighth-grade students who took part in the written portion of the regional bee, held on Scripps’ online testing platform in late January. WITF’s Central PA Spelling Bee was also conducted virtually with spellers competing from the safety of their own homes.

Who will be the next champion? You’ll have to watch to find out!

WITF’s Central PA Spelling Bee premieres Sunday, April 3 at 6pm on WITF TV and livestream, with repeat broadcasts on Tuesday, April 5 at 12pm and Thursday, April 7 at 7pm. WITF’s Central PA Spelling Bee will also be available to stream on-demand through the PBS Video app.
