Here is a rundown of special programs pre-empting regularly schedule programming Saturday July 3 to Monday July 5:

Radio

  • Sunday July 4 at 6pm – Fourth of July with the Tabernacle Choir Join the Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square for a patriotic concert celebrating Independence Day.
  • Sunday July 4 at 7pm & Monday July 5 at 1pm – To Honor and Inspire – Andrea Blain hosts this patriotic encore special, featuring performances by the United States Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine bands.
  • Sunday July 4 8pm to 10pm – A Capitol Fourth – An audio simulcast of the special also broadcasting on television. More information….
  • Monday July 5 10am to 12pm – Lost & Found Sound– An eclectic gathering of stories both historical and entertaining, woven together with lyrical sonic transitions, surprising audio artifacts and musings. Exploring how recorded sound has captured American history. This is a compilation of the All Things Considered occasional series that ran from 1999 to 2005. More information…
  • Monday July 5 2pm-4pm – American Routes: May the Fourth Be With Us! – Featuring words and music from Nina Simone, Randy Newman, Sly Stone, Jon Batiste and others. More information…

Television

  • Saturday July 3 at 10am – The Gettysburg Story – The story of Gettysburg is told with breathtaking imagery of legendary places of the battlefield.
  • Saturday July 3 at 11am-4pm – Travel around the mid-Atlantic. We highlight destinations in Pennsylvania as well as nearby states including the Chesapeake Bay, Ocean City, The Finger Lakes and The Great Alleghany Passage.
  • Saturday July 3 4pm to 5:30pm – A Capitol Fourth 2020 – An encore presentation of last year’s Independence Day celebration.
  • Saturday July 3 at 8pm – Jazz Ambassadors: The United States Army Field Band – The United States Army’s premiere touring big band, perform music of the era.
  • Sunday July 4 1pm-4pm – U.S. Marine Band: An All-Star Orchestra Special –  Gerard Schwarz conducts the U.S. Marine Band, America’s oldest continually performing musical ensemble, in the three-part program special.
  • Sunday July 4 8pm-9:30pm & 9:30pm-11pm – A Capitol Fourth – Celebrate Independence Day with this annual tradition on WITF (audio simulcast available on radio).  More information…
