STEAM Ahead this month with WITF

We have all probably heard the term STEM or STEAM as it related to education—science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math.  These learning areas help build skills that foster innovation, discovery, and creativity.  But how does Engineering make sense to a kindergarten student or even a preschooler? In May, WITF is proud to explore these topics with families and children.

STEAM Ahead logoOn May 8, from 9am-12:30pm, families are invited to join us as we STEAM Ahead in the Farm Show Parking Lot.  You can see Nature Cat or Daniel Tiger and great displays by STEAM non-profits, musicians, and sponsors.  Each pre-registered child will receive a wonderful bag full of science and art supplies to explore at home. Get more information and register for this free event at https://www.witf.org/2021/03/29/steam-ahead-drive-through-event/.

In addition to the STEAM Ahead event, children in kindergarten through fifth grade and their families are invited to learn more about the field of engineering in a one-hour television program. Family Night: Engineering will introduce children to cool careers within the field of engineering that range from building roller coasters to designing artificial heart pumps for children who need them. Children will also get a chance to participate in hands-on engineering activities during the program! The best part? Everything they need to participate can be found right in your home.   So, if you want to learn more about the exciting field of engineering and make some family memories don’t miss Family Night: Engineering airing on WITF TV at 7pm on May 13, 2021.

Whether you join us in person at STEAM Ahead or in your living room for Family Night: Engineering, WITF is proud to continue to support our regions families as we keep learning together.
