It grew from the gold rush days and the lawless Barbary Coast, to the exciting skyline that arose after the 1906 earthquake. Free thinkers with flowers in their hair brought the 1960s. Vineyards and olive groves drew culinary pilgrims in the 1990s. And now, greater San Francisco is home to tech giants, sports champions, and Space Age innovators.
WITF invites you to rediscover San Francisco, exploring its ever-changing cultural roots as it moves into the future.
From your deluxe 4-star hotel overlooking the Bay, local guides take you into their private city, guiding you through museums, and neighborhoods.
Sample your way through the popular Saturday farmer’s market at the Ferry Building, then learn how to turn fresh local produce into California cuisine at a hands-on cooking class making lunch.
Cross the San Francisco bay to the wine country to taste the pinot noirs and cabernets that made these northern California wines rival those of France.
Join a grand master chocolatier behind the scenes of his chocolate factory, accompanied by a James Beard award-winning culinary author.
Dip into the vibrant Mexican culture of the mission district, lunching at a traditional Mexican restaurant where families gather for incomparable birria and other specialties. And with one of the artists, discover the famed colorful murals painted on fences and walls of Mission’s streets and alleys.
