(New York)–  Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons combined to lead the Philadelphia 76ers to a 109-89 win over the New York Knicks in Madison Square Garden.  Embiid had 27 points and 10 rebounds as the Sixers moved to 2-0 in the new season.

Simmons added 15 points, nine rebounds and six assists and Seth Curry scored 17.

The Sixers have won their last 13 meetings against the Knicks and Embiid and Simmons have never dropped a game at MSG.  Philadelphia’s last loss to New York was April 12, 2017

For Head Coach Doc Rivers, it was his first road win with Philadelphia.  The veteran coach also reached a career milestone- career win 945, making him the tenth winningest coach in league history.  He passed Bill Fitch on the all-time list.

The Sixers will be back in action tonight as they visit Cleveland.  The Cavaliers are coming off a double overtime win against the Detroit Pistons last night 128-119.
