(Cleveland)–Former Penn State basketball standout Lamar Stevens has been signed to a two-way contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers.  Stevens will report for preseason training camp on Dec. 1.

Stevens (6-8, 225) played all four years for the Nittany Lions, averaging 16.3 points and 6.5 rebounds over a 135 game career.  As a senior, he finished fourth in the Big Ten in scoring (17.6), and was named to the 2019-20 All-Big Ten First Team.

From Philadelphia, Stevens led the 2019-20 team to become one of only three in Penn State’s Big Ten history to win at least 20 games and 10 Big Ten conference games in a season.  His graduating class won 76 games overall and 33 in the conference during the four run career.

Stevens holds program records for field goals made (801) and starts (135).  He was seven points shy of school scoring record when Big Ten Conference and NCAA Tournaments were cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Off the court, Stevens connected with individuals with special needs in a children’s book project titled “Lamar’s Climb: A Journey to Happy Valley.  The book was distributed as part of “Everyone is Awesome” Day in February 2020.  The book, which teaches children Pennsylvania geography, illustrates Stevens traveling across the commonwealth from his home and high school in Philadelphia to State College.
