Law Enforcement Officers of Color Discuss Race, Policing & Safety

Police confront issues of race daily in everything they do. Join us as law enforcement officers of color together with community activists discuss race, policing and safety Thursday, October 22 at 7pm LIVE on WITF’s YouTube channel.

We’ll examine racial bias in policing, the public’s view of the police and the movement to defund law enforcement. What does defunding the police actually mean? Plus, we’ll focus on solutions that could help lead toward policing equity.

Share your personal experiences with law enforcement or ask questions that we can address during this conversation. Email us at discuss@witf.org or share your story using #RacialJusticePA.

Panelists include:

Jamiel L. Alexander—Community Organizer & National Activist

Detective Sergeant Ramon Caraballo—President, Pennsylvania Latino Officers Association

Commissioner Thomas Carter—Harrisburg City Police

Byron & Stephanie Lewis—Retired Pennsylvania State Police Troopers

Capt. Sonia Pruitt—Representative of the Law Enforcement Action Partnership

Allyship can mean different things to different people, and it can be tough to know where to start. Together we’ll explore ways to support marginalized communities.

The entire series will be live streamed and recorded so those unable to attend can watch, listen and share. Visit witf.org/racialjustice to watch past conversations and find additional resources.
