I-83 ramp in Harrisburg area closed this weekend

  • Craig Rhodes

(Harrisburg)  —  The state transportation department has closed a busy on-ramp to I-83 in the Harrisburg area this weekend.

PennDOT officials say the on-ramp from Union Deposit Road to southbound I-83 was closed Friday night and will remain that way until Monday morning at 6am.

The closure will allow for reconstruction of the ramp.

A detour is in place during the closure. Motorists wishing to travel south on I-83 from Union Deposit Road should take northbound I-83 to Route 22 (Exit 50), turn left at the top of the ramp, then turn left onto the on-ramp to southbound I-83.

The project is part of the nearly 105-million dollar reconstruction of a more than 2.5 mile section of I-83 in Lower Paxton Township, Dauphin County.
