WITF TV schedule changes beginning 9/7

WITF’s TV schedule changes frequently week to week and month to month. However, we have some larger changes to some long-running programs to alert you to beginning September 7:

PBS Kids

Weekdays 6:00am – 1:00pm, Saturday 6:00am – 9:00am, Sunday 6:00am – 10:00am

The PBS Kids schedule is getting a refresh. This typically happens around the start of a new school year. We’re introducing Elinor Wonders Why to the schedule. The series encourages children to follow their curiosity, ask questions when they don’t understand and find answers using science inquiry skills. Join Elinor and her two buddies, Ari and Olive, as they explore Animal Town and work together to solve problems. See the new PBS Kids schedule on WITF. Preview the new series here. Elinor Wonders Why is also available on the WITFK PBS KIDS 24/7  channel, which has an updated schedule beginning September 7 too. WITFK PBS KIDS 24/7 is available as a livestream through our website and via the PBS Kids Video app. WITFK PBS KIDS 24/7 is also available on Comcast/Xfinity and Verizon FIOS.

The overall schedule for PBS Kids begins weekdays at 6:00am and continues to 1:00pm now.  Previously it was ending at noon.  Sesame Street and Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood will only broadcast in the mornings on WITF.  They are no longer repeating at 7:00pm to make room for additional news and lifestyle programming.  Viewers seeking PBS Kids programming at 7:00pm may access WITFK PBS Kids 24/7 for quality children’s programming all day long.

Learning At Home

Weekdays 11:00am – 3:00pm

WITF is continuing to offer programming aligned with education goals for school districts. The Learning at Home collection of programs overlaps with PBS Kids programming at 11:00am with Sesame Street and continuing with programs geared toward high school students between 1:00-3:00pm.  This collection of programming in coordination with the State Department of Education, Intermediate Units across the state and all 7 PBS Stations. Due to a limited amount of space, we have a few cooking and crafting shows that are paused in the schedule. We’re evaluating additional space in our weekend schedule later this fall to return them to the schedule.  Weekday schedule in September 3:00-4:00pm will be:

  • Tuesday – Cook’s Country – Quilting Arts
  • Wednesday – Lidia’s Kitchen – Knit and Crochet Now

Other series will be back by October as room permits including: Pati’s Mexican Table (new series 9), Kitchen Queens (continuing new season 1), Fit 2 Stitch and It’s Sew Easy.

While we say our final goodbyes, we will move the series up to 6:00pm Saturdays to make room for another variety series, The Carol Burnett Show.  The first episode of ‘Carol’s Favorites’ will broadcast September 12 at 7:00pm.
