(Leola) — Authorities say a man accused of opening fire on FBI agents, prompting an all-day standoff in Reading, was being sought as a person of interest in multiple shootings.
The FBI says 37-year-old Rafael Vega-Rodriguez was taken into custody overnight in Leola, Lancaster County, and faces a charge of assault on a federal officer.
He allegedly had opened fire on FBI agents in Reading at about midnight Sunday, and they returned fire, prompting Monday’s standoff.
An unidentified associate of the suspect was hospitalized.
It’s unclear whether Vega-Rodriguez has an attorney; a message couldn’t be left at a number listed for him.
