(University Park)—Lamar Stevens’ 23 points led the 13th ranked Penn State men’s basketball team to a 77-61 win over Northwestern Saturday. The win marks eight straight and marks 20 on the season.
Sophomore Myles Dread and Junior guard Jamari Wheeler also reached double figures. Dread hit four 3-pointers and finished with a season-best 16. Wheeler’s 11 points were also a season-best as he made a career-best three 3-pointers.
A 13-0 run late in the game for Penn State secured the Nittany Lions 10th Big Ten Conference win of the season, the most under Head Coach Patrick Chambers.
Penn State connected on 11 3-point field goals against Northwestern, the second-straight game with double digit threes. They also totaled a +12 margin in rebounds. Senior forward Mike Watkins had a game-high nine boards.
Penn State (20-5, 10-4) will host Illinois Tuesday night.
Northwestern falls to 6-18 on the season and 1-13 in the Big Ten.
