(Mechanicsburg) — Authorities say two upstate New York men aboard a helicopter were killed when it crashed into the backyard of a Cumberland County home.

No one on the ground was injured in the Thursday night crash in Silver Spring Township.

“If there’s any good news to take from this, that’s it,” said Cumberland County Public Information Officer John Brutsch.

PennLive posted a video of the press conference:

The pilot was 58-year-old Mark D. Croce, of Orchard Park, N.Y, and the passenger was 63-year-old Michael Capriotto, also of Orchard Park. The aircraft was headed to Buffalo, New York, from Washington, D.C., when the crash took place.

Brutsch did confirm it was not a medical helicopter, but could not provide further details on what type of craft it was.

“If you look at the records, it’s tough to tell,” he said. “Until (investigators) can actually get in there, dig it apart and check the tail numbers and everything…to confirm where it came from.”

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board plan to investigate.
