WITF And GIANT Food Stores Partner To Donate Food To Central Pennsylvania Food Bank As The Holidays Kick-Off

(Harrisburg, PA) — Today, WITF and GIANT Food Stores announced a collaboration that will contribute food to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank in advance of the 2019 holiday season. WITF will hold a one-day giving event on November 6, inviting listeners to give monetarily to the public media station. GIANT Food Stores will match every dollar contributed to the station with a pound of food donated to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank up to 50,000 pounds.

“This marks WITF’s 12th year partnering with the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank and a local grocery store to help alleviate hunger within the region and to raise money to support public media,” said Ron Hetrick, WITF’s President and CEO. “We couldn’t be more excited about our new partnership with GIANT this year and the positive impact this collaboration will have on our community!”

In central Pennsylvania,1 in 10 people struggle with hunger, including 1 in 6 children.  The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank serves more than 135,000 individuals every month. As the region’s leading grocery store, GIANT views themselves as being the heart of our community and hunger being a problem in every community. GIANT takes this responsibility seriously and that is why the company has partnered with WITF and made it their mission to help fight hunger in all its forms.
