Commuter train passengers stranded due to electrical issue

(Philadelphia) — Several hundred passengers on four Philadelphia commuter trains were stranded due to an electrical problem.
The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority said the roof mechanism that connects a train to overhead power lines got snagged with cables as a Paoli-Thorndale train approached 30th Street Station at about 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
SEPTA spokesman Andrew Busch said Amtrak, which operates the line, cut power and stranded four trains that were in service. Amtrak also halted service between Philadelphia and Harrisburg.
More than 300 passengers on the four trains were stranded for up to 21/2 hours as the agency dispatched shuttle buses to transport them.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that after some passengers complained that they weren’t informed about the cause of the delays, Busch said the agency would review its communications procedures.
