Summer to Fall in 24 hours

  • Craig Rhodes

(Harrisburg) — The midstate has experienced quite a change in the weather this week — but is fall here to stay?

The Harrisburg area set a record high of 93-degrees on Wednesday afternoon — but by Thursday morning the temperature was dropping rapidly and high’s Thursday afternoon are only reaching the low 60’s — a 30-degree swing in just 24-hours.

Meteorologist Craig Evanego with the National Weather Service in State College said the drastic temperature shift was due to a back-door cold front that moved through Pennsylvania from the northeast to the southwest and brought with it clouds and much cooler air.

Evanego is forecasting high temperatures mostly in the 60’s for at least the next week.

And he adds that while its not unusual for some mild weather in October — for the most part it looks like fall season has arrived.
