Storms blast through the midstate, leading to thousands of power outages

(Harrsburg) — Nearly 20,000 homes and businesses are without power this morning after heavy rains and wind blasted through the region.

PPL reports the highest number of outages are in Columbia County at more than 10,000 — as of 4:30 a.m. today.

In Northumberland County, some 2,500 outages are reported and the figure is around 2,300 in Snyder County.

The National Weather Service in State College says a wind advisory will go into effect from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. for the entire midstate.
