Forecasters say to expect messy Tuesday morning commute

(Harrisburg) — Forecasters with the National Weather Service in State College say the second wave of a winter storm heading for the midstate will be much more significant.
Much of the midstate is under a winter storm warning through tomorrow afternoon.
Forecasters are expecting up to 6 inches of snow in most of the region. Totals could reach 8 inches in higher elevations.
Meteorologist Bill Gartner said the snow will start falling again Monday evening and change over to sleet and freezing rain overnight.
“It’s not a major crippling snowfall storm, but it’s certainly going to be messy tomorrow morning and difficult to get around, especially the early part of the day,” Gartner said.
One-tenth to two-tenths of an inch of ice is expected to accumulate by tomorrow morning.
The system should change over to rain by the afternoon.
