The cost of building high-voltage transmission lines through Franklin and York counties has gone up in the past two years.

The higher price, however, is unlikely to tip the scales against constructing the Independence Energy Connection in Franklin and York counties. Transource has a contract to site and construct the 230kV lines for PJM Interconnection, manager of the Mid-Atlantic power grid.

Transource recently updated PJM on project costs after receiving bids for major materials and construction, according to Transource spokeswoman Abby Foster. The increase is less than 3 percent over the cost estimate presented to PJM in 2016.
