(Harrisburg) — Hundreds are expected to participate in the annual March for the Fallen this weekend at Fort Indiantown Gap.

The event designed to remember soldiers who have lost their lives since 9/11 started seven years ago with 50 participants.

As of Friday afternoon, about 550 are registered to march tomorrow morning at the base in Lebanon County, with satellite events scheduled in Kuwait, Jordan, Lithuania, and Germany.

Captain Eric Luke, an organizer for this year’s event, said there will be a wall of pictures of those lost in service at the start of the course.

“So it provides a time of reflection for those Gold Star families, which are those that have lost a loved one in the military,” Luke said.

The event is made up of four possible courses.

The main one is a 28-mile march, which can be completed with or without a 35 pound rucksack.

There are also options for a 28-mile hand cycle course, a 14-mile Honor March, and a 5k.
