(Harrisburg) — A former Rite Aid vice president is facing charges in federal court for an alleged, $5 million kick-back scheme.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania said James Pilsner, 60, of Harrisburg, has been charged with one count of wire fraud and one count of federal income tax evasion.

Prosecutors say the former Vice President for Advertising for Cumberland County-based Rite Aid engaged in the scheme with the owners of Atlanta, Georgia-based Nuvision, Inc. for over 20 years.

Pilsner allegedly would approve false and inflated invoices from Nuvision. In exchange, the company’s owners would “kick-back” a significant portion of Rite Aid’s payments to Pilsner.

Prosecutors say Pilsner received more than $5 million between 1995 and 2017.
