Artist Statement

Color and light are qualities that attract my attention in daily life. So, when it comes to painting, these are also the qualities I endeavor to make come alive in my art. Painting in a realist style provides challenges as well as a sense of satisfaction and joy that come from being able to render the form with subtle details — transforming the seemingly mundane into something enchanting.

Whether in watercolor or oils, still life or figurative works, I enjoy the constant practice of developing the form, playing with lighting and composition, and achieving rich textural variations.
