GOP lawmakers Perry and Smucker face tough re-election bids
Political analysts says six Pa. House seats are up for grabs
(Undated) — Political pollster and analyst G. Terry Madonna cautions that both U.S. Reps. Scott Perry and Lloyd Smucker should be concerned about retaining their seats in the approaching mid-term election.
Following redistricting earlier this year, Perry’s 4th Congressional District, realigned as District 10, was shifted north to include a lot of Democratic voters in all of Dauphin County. The district also includes the northern half of York County and part of Cumberland County.
Smucker’s District 16, redesignated as District 11, shifted west to include the southern half of York County, formerly part of Perry’s old District 4.
Along with the additional Democratic voters in the new District 10, Perry’s Democratic opponent, George Scott, “is running a well-organized and financed campaign,” Madonna said.
Smucker, meanwhile, “is considered vulnerable by some, but the district remains strongly Republican,” Madonna said. He faces Democrat Jess King in November.
Madonna said the fate of those seats depends on the Democratic turnout.
