A special clergy abuse hotline has received 733 calls.

That’s according to Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro, whose office led a grand jury investigation into six Catholic dioceses in Pennsylvania.

“We’re tracking down each and every one of those tips, talking to each and every one of the people that have called,” Shapiro said during an interview on NBC’s TODAY show. “And certainly, if we can bring a case on any of this against any predator priest, or anyone who covered it up, we will do so.”

During the Tuesday morning interview, Shapiro said he couldn’t speak to the role of Pope Francis specifically, but “we have evidence that the Vatican had knowledge of the cover-up.”

A redacted version of grand jury report was released on Aug. 14, and it described the abuse of more than 1,000 victims and more than 300 “predator priests.” The report has prompted prosecutors in other states to pursue or consider investigations into Catholic dioceses there.
