Heat advisory declared for central Pennsylvania today

(Undated) — The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for much of central Pennsylvania as temperatures are expected to go beyond 90 degrees today
The high temperature is expected to reach 91 in York and surrounding areas, according to forecasters. The heat index level will be around 100.
The advisory is in effect for Franklin, Perry, Dauphin, Schuylkill, Lebanon, Cumberland, Adams, York, Lancaster, Berks, Montgomery, Chester, Delaware, Philadelphia, Lehigh, Bucks, Northampton counties from noon to 7 p.m.
Today will be the hottest day of the week, as temperatures steadily decline startingtomorrow.
It is advised that people sensitive to the heat, such as the elderly, people with heart conditions and breathing problems, should stay in an air-conditioned area for as much of the day as possible. People working outside, such as construction workers and farmers, are advised to stay hydrated.
“The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible,” according to the National Weather Service. “Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun,and check up on relatives and neighbors.”
