The Dover Area School District settled a lawsuit with a woman who was repeatedly sexually assaulted at the hands of her music teacher for $1.2 million including attorneys fees and costs, according to documents obtained through a Right-to-Know Law request.

Officials state the $1.2 million is fully covered under the district’s liability insurance policy.

The settlement states that the agreement “is not and shall not in any way” be construed as an admission of liability or wrongdoing, which it disputes. The documents express that the agreement was entered into for the sole and purely practical purposes of resolving all disputes and actions related to the lawsuit, and avoiding the burden, disruption, expense, delay and uncertainties of trial.
