Man impersonating state trooper tried to steal from a driver, police say

(St. Thomas Township) – Police are looking for a man driving an older style police car who pulled over a woman and attempted to steal jewelry from her Saturday evening.

The false traffic stop happened at about 5:30 p.m. on Jack Road in the area of Snyder Road, according to Pennsylvania State Police, Chambersburg.

The victim said the black, older police vehicle had red and blue revolving lights on the top and a red and blue light on the lower area of the windshield on the driver’s side.

The suspect identified himself as a state police trooper. He asked the victim to exit her vehicle, then searched her and asked her to “prone out” on the ground.

The suspect attempted to take a ring off the victim’s left hand. He then ordered her to stand up and pulled her up by her hair.

He then fled south on Jack Road.

Police described the suspect as a black man with black hair styled in a buzz cut and a deep tone a voice, last seen wearing a black shirt and blue jeans and white sneakers.
