(Somerset) — Construction is winding down on the final feature in the Flight 93 National Memorial in Somerset County.

The final piece is also the most complicated,.. a 93-foot tall concrete tower that will be adorned with a huge wind chime for each of the passengers and crew members killed in the crash.

Architect Paul Murdoch admits it has been a complicated process.

“Our wind engineers are both in Colorado and Sydney, Australia.  Our structural engineers are in LA, San Francisco and London.  So it’s taken not just a national, but an international effort,” he said.

The team conducted intricate wind analysis to make sure the chimes will sound no matter which way the breeze blows across the open field.

The tower is slated to open to the public September 9th, 2 days before the 17th anniversary of the attacks.
