(State College) — The summer heat wave will continue today throughout the midstate with no relief in sight through at least the July 4th holiday.
Forecasters with the National Weather Service are calling for hazy, hot and humid conditions through the holiday with daytime high’s in the mid to upper 90’s.
Heat index values will be above 100.
There is an increased risk of heat-related illnesses with prolonged exposure and reduced air quality.
The National Weather Service says people should limit any outdoor activity.
If you must go outside, find shade and stay hydrated.
They also advise to check up on the elderly and sick,.. and those without air conditioning.
Some relief could come late in the week in the form of thunderstorms.
