The heat is on

(State College) — The first day of summer is next Thursday but some hot, steamy summer-like days are in the forecast before then.

The National Weather Service is calling for increasing heat and humidity starting Sunday in the midstate.

The high temperature in the midstate on Sunday is forecast to be in the low 90’s,.. while Monday’s high could reach the mid 90’s.

Heat index values are forecast  around 100 Monday afternoon, increasing the risk of heat exhaustion.

Officials say if you have to be outside, limit your time and drink plenty of fluids.

Some relief could come by mid-week in the form of thunderstorms.
