Medical marijuana will be sold legally in York County next week.

The county’s first dispensary is opening to patients with a prescription at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Knox Medical, 648 Frederick St. in Penn Township.

The Hanover-area dispensary received a state permit about a year ago and held a job fair in March.

Company officials for Florida-based Knox Medical said more information will be available next week regarding the grand opening.

Pennsylvania law allows the sale of medical marijuana in oils, pills, gels and liquids, but prevents dispensaries from selling marijuana that can be smoked.

Starting Tuesday, hours will be 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
