State police investigate school bus accident in Dauphin County

(Lykens) — An SUV struck into a school bus carrying 17 students in Washington Township, Dauphin County Monday morning.

According to state police, around 8 a.m. a Honda CR-V car struck the bus broadside after turning left onto SR209.

Students from the Upper Dauphn School district were onboard. There were no injuries from the crash, police said. Northbound SR209 was closed for about one hour while state police, Elizabethville Fire Company and Life Team EMS responded to the crash.  

The SUV driver, 89-year-old Howard Cassel, has been charged with failure to follow stop/yield signs.
