(Lebanon) — Veterans are more satisfied with the wait time at Lebanon VA Medical Center than any of the nine other facilities in its region according to a recent U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs survey.

The survey asked Veterans treated by VA if they were satisfied with the time it took to get an appointment. Lebanon VA Medical Center earned a satisfaction rating of 86 percent, which is 15 percent higher than VA’s national average and the highest in the region that includes facilities in Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey and Ohio.

“More than 86 percent of Veterans reported they always or usually get appointments for the care they needed right away at the Lebanon VA and our Community Clinics,” said Robert W. Callahan, Jr., medical center director. “Unfortunately, there are no available comparisons to private sector health care since that data is either not collected or publicly released.”

In addition to being the highest rated, Lebanon VA Medical Center’s score showed the highest increase in access-to-care in the region.

“I am extremely proud of our accomplishments, because I know this level of performance comes with sacrifice the part of our employees,” said Callahan. “But we are continuing to move forward by aggressively recruiting new medical providers, finding ways to ease administrative burden on our clinicians and building three new or expanded clinics in our communities to add even more convenient services.”

Lebanon VA Medical Center is one of 170 medical centers in the nation with the sole purpose of providing medical care to America’s Veterans. Lebanon VAMC serves a nine county area in South Central Pennsylvania covering Adams, Berks, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry, Schuylkill and York counties. Lebanon VAMC also currently oversees community clinics located in Camp Hill, Lancaster, Pottsville, Wyomissing, York and Fort Indiantown Gap.
