(Harrisburg) — Legislation being introduced in the state House focuses on gun safety, and persons who shouldn’t have access to firearms.

To emphasize what supporters say should be the bipartisan nature of gun safety, the legislation is co-sponsored by Democratic State Representative Margo Davidson, and Republican Nick Miccarelli, who says the bills seek to make it harder for two categories of individuals to obtain a firearm.

“Those who are crminals and have forfeited their right to a firearm and those who have benn adjudicated as mentally ill, who our society has decided, we don’t want them or need them having firearms,” he said.

It’s part of a four-bill package being unveiled in the House.

Supporters say despite the controversy, when it comes to guns, this is an issue which needs to be addressed.
